Montbretia, not a native plant, grows in wild perfusion in the Dingle Peninsula, including as an unwelcome intruder in my garden. They are lovely when in flower, but they are highly invasive and suppress all other native wildflowers. However, they create a wonderful blaze of colour at the roadsides in summer.
