This ancient church has undergone many transformations and renovations over the centuries. Different parts of the buildings were created in different times, originating in the early 4th century AD. The church now has 4 different names. It's also knows as St. Pauls Catholic Church, The Church at St. Paul's Pillar and Panagia Chrysopolitissa (Our Lady of the Golden City).
Earthquakes were the main cause of destruction over the centuries.
The site has ancient archaeological remains from it's various phases.
