Doonbeg is a small village on the west coast of County Clare, noted for the large number of ancient towers there.

Doonbeg castle is an Irish tower castle dating from 16th century. It overlooks the Doonbeg River in County Clare which flows into the bay of Dunmore on the Atlantic coast.

The original castle was once considerably higher but a turret fell at around 1898 and brought most of the walls of the upper room with it. The rest was pulled down soon afterwards leaving only the lower portion intact.
